That’s where you’ll find LSI in the latest “Small Spaces” Issue of Rue Magazine.

Our live/work loft in Charlotte certainly fits the bill for small, but we made sure not to scrimp on style.

Reference was made to our tiny terrace, but no photo to show… so we thought we’d let you see:

All photos were taken by Ron Royals. Big Thanks to the ladies at Rue for featuring us!

This weekend- Elizabeth Historic Home & Garden Tour

On the first weekend of October, our own Michel VanDevender’s home will be featured in the Home and Garden Tour of Charlotte’s historic Elizabeth neighborhood.

You may remember seeing her home here, or recall the post chronicaling the photo shoot for Charlotte Home and Garden Magazine, which will be on stands Oct. 10th. We’ll be sure to blog about that as soon as we get it.

Here’s the living area with that iconic David Hicks upholstered sofa:

For more info on the tour, which features 8 homes and 3 spectacular & unique gardens, check out the Elizabeth Community’s website.

The voyeur in you wants to go, admit it! We’re no different, and we’re beyond curious to see what’s beyond these walls:

Tickets are on sale at Red Sky Gallery and in the Mercy Hospital Library on tour days, and available now at Red Sky & Royal Gardens

Friday’s Inspiring Room…

… is in this house!

The March of Dimes 2011 Designer Show House, in Charlotte, NC.

Of course we’re talking about our room, but our esteemed fellow designers will be sure to give us a run for our money. And we mean it. It’s going to be good, with Mrs. Howard, Aida Interiors & Luxe Home Couture, Max & Co, Isabella (will our friend Bryn be there?), and Barrie Benson of Domino fame in attendence, to name a few.

We’ve been working on this space non-stop this week, gearing up for the opening Oct.7th. Paint is done.

..and that’s about it. But Monday, MONDAY starts the install.

We can only share a few images to give you an idea of where this is headed.

And we’re crossing our fingers that our friends at Decade will loan this beautiful painting, which will sit opposite the black commodes that will flank the bed, and the rams head chair which will perch in the dressing area- all available for purchase through LSI when the Show House concludes:

There is so much more, we can’t wait to show you how it comes together. Watch for it on FB & Twitter, and make sure you come out to the show house when it opens! Tickets are $15 each and proceeds go to the March of Dimes. Get all of your design obsessed friends together and make a day of supporting this great cause!

We Go All Out.

Nothing around here is “halfway”.

For our friend Janie’s birthday we got a little crafty. That’s Kathryn’s “Happy Birthday Handiwork” in the studio.

And here it is in action this past weekend:

The regular group of running buddies decided to do something different- we took the birthday  girl on a surprise 7 mile scavenger-hunt-style party run. Stops along the way met the ladies with coffee, muffins & gifts, ending with a cocktail cruise to a picnic on a secluded beach. The winding creek that leads to the beach could only accomodate a little fishing boat, so we decked it out in festive garland, comfy pillows and blankets and our banner and “set sail”.

Mother nature played along. The weather was gorgeous! Here’s a shot (above and below) of one of the stops on the run:

And the after-run reward & picnic view… complete with our favorite and oh-so-appropriate for Bald Head gator glassware:

This might be one of the last weekends we’ll be able to get away to the beach house. We’ve met so many new people this summer, it’s been a blast. We just want to let our readers, clients, and friends know how thankful we are. We hope you’ll all stick around as we go into our busy season. This fall has several installs on the schedule and we’re excited to finally show you more of our work at that “wow moment”. We’re building up to a big reveal this coming weekend- stay tuned!

“Wait for it” Wednesday

Guess who came down south for a visit? We attempted to beat yesterday’s heat by working from home with friends. You’ll have to wait ’til next month to see the results, but here’s a snapshot & a fairly obvious clue or two…

A Photo Shoot with Charlotte Home & Garden

About a week ago we had a shoot in Charlotte at friend/client turned member of the LSI team Michel’s house. Whew, that was a mouthful- but it’s true. We met Michel & fell in love, and now she’s one of us. See why below!

A little last minute style & prep, and then the team from Charlotte Home & Garden arrived!

First things first- coffee! Then the ladies headed to the living room to talk story while Chris scouted out his shots:

This shoot was really a dream. So easy-going! Here Michel tells the story of how she went from licensed therapist to interior decorator for LSI. Lisa helped Michel take her home (which houses 3 rambunctious boys + husband) to that next level, pulling everything together- & in the process saw Michel’s innate talent firsthand.

Want to see just how the day went? We took a little video- this is basically Million Dollar Decorators… or not. But you get the idea. For those who haven’t been through a photo shoot, it kinda goes like this.all.day.long. You’ll have to click the link to watch our little peek behind the curtain, so to speak:

almost Bravo worthy

Don’t want to spoil the surprise and show you too much of the interior- you can see this home on our portfolio page but we know Chris will put his own photographer’s take on it- we can barely wait to see what shot he got while squeezed into this corner.

Blake & Lisa have a chat on a vintage yellow suzani:

Getting a look at the shot:

And then we moved upstairs to shoot the bedrooms, where we had a little extra entertainement…

Sadly we’ll all have to wait until October to see this issue hit the stands. Thanks to Lindsay, Blake & Chris, from Charlotte Home & Garden for making this such a great experience!

You know what time it is…

The pool is officially open! Of course we’re all wishing we were a little more Slim at the moment…

You are coming here for a steady stream of bad puns, right?

Behind the scenes at our Lonny shoot!

So the new May/June issue of Lonny is out, and WE’RE IN IT!  We were dying to tell you about this when we first found out it was going to happen but we had to contain ourselves. We’re just so thrilled with how all of Patrick’s photos turned out- it was kind of a dreary on the day of the shoot, and he doesn’t use any extra lighting. In the end, the home appears just as light filled and airy in the pics as it does in real life. And can we just boast about how attractive our homeowners are? Such a great photo of them!

We made sure to take plenty of behind the scenes shots (iphone, so excuse any blurriness), and our friend and homeowner Scott Vincent took plenty of great pics as well. Here’s the shoot from our point of view, with pics of Michelle (who is just magnetic, by the way) and Patrick at work:

We headed into Minneapolis on April 26th and made our way to the home of Courtney & Scott Vincent.

A shot of the exterior; we love this home- kind of rainy, the morning of the shoot:

When Michelle & Patrick arrived, they immediately started snapping away. A few from the stairs-

L to R, Lisa, Patrick, Courtney holding baby Pearl, & Michelle:

Lisa watches Patrick set up the shot of the collage wall in the living room:

The girls entertain themselves with the coloring book placemats:

This family is just so photogenic!

A little interview and a shot with Lisa:

Holden is not as shy as she’d have you believe…

Did you know that Patrick shoots film? Film. For a digitally produced magazine. It kind of surprised us.

He said he prefers the romance of film. We love a man who uses words like “romance”.

Scott & Courtney pose for their close-up:

We love this group shot of Courtney, Pearl, Lisa, Michelle & Patrick:

It was really an honor to be chosen for this issue. Again we want to thank everyone who helped to make it happen (including our amazing clients who have become friends!) and want to thank Michelle & Patrick for a laid back & fun shoot.

We’re thrilled with the outcome!

Haven’t seen it in Lonny yet? Click here.

An evening with Oscar at the Mint

Last week we posted a little about the Mint Museum’s Room to Bloom Celebration. We had a FANTASTIC time at the Symposium with the charming Miles Redd- he really left us inspired with his devil-may-care attitude towards design. There was an audible gasp from the “ladies who lunch” when Redd suggested you faux marble over unattractive marble. He talked about his love of lacquer, his fondness for painting a lampshade, and was just a ball of pizazz and inspiration. Love this man, we do. We posted a couple extra pics of that event to our FB page. The CommenceMint party at the home of Kitty and Ted Garner was also quite fab; we had a great time with our friend Valerie Pressley, a kitchen designer in Charlotte, and Greg Perry of Greg Perry Design. The Garner’s home is amazing… we can’t help but share this pic with you:

Because you know we’re huge fans of built in seating, we were dying over this little nook in the dressing room. And Kitty’s wardrobe- it was everything we could do to stop ourselves from having an impromptu fashion show. Speaking of, Friday night was the big Oscar de la Renta event. Here’s Lisa at the loft office prior to our departure- Mr. Richmond is looking on in approval. The entrance to the Art of Style event with gowns on loan for public viewing…

The details on these gowns are stunning. Susan and Lisa had to pose a bit, both having a “green moment” here:

The man of the hour, Oscar de la Renta. We practically sat right behind him…

And then the runway:

Our friend, client and stylist Catherine Horgan was lucky enough to be backstage. Here’s her backstage video. It was an amazing night. We want to congratulate the Mint Museum Auxiliary on their successful week of Art and Style. Looking forward to next year!

Oscar, Miles, and the Mint Museum

There’s a lot of style headed for Charlotte this week, thanks to the Mint Museum Auxilary’s 58th Annual Room to Bloom Celebration. LSI is proud to be a sponsor of what is sure to have all of the Queen City buzzing. The Decorative Arts Symposium, with keynote speaker & interior design world heavy hitter Miles Redd (can’t wait!), parties, and gatherings will culminate Friday in a full on runway show featuring the Fall 11 collection of style icon (and fashion’s most handsome designer, we think) Mr. Oscar de la Renta.

Of course the glue that binds these two together is Oscar de la Renta’s Home Collection, where Redd resides as Design Director. One can see how Redd has brought his penchant for color & “more is more” look to Oscar’s use of sumptuous textures & fabrics. It appears to be a perfect match and we love the result.

Some of our favorite looks from Oscar’s Fall11 runway:

Redd’s own NY townhouse, photographed twice and with subtle variations in artwork & cocktail tables. Love that this gives us an isight into how designers “tinker” in their own homes:

And the Oscar de la Renta Home showroom (via Lonny), done up with Miles’ signature point of view on color, texture, layering, art and the object.

Redd’s love of lacquer shows up in many of the Oscar de la Renta Home pieces. Remember the yellow and green doors in this home? Look at this credenza and chest for Century (LOVE the hardware):

It’s worth noting that, while the events of the coming week are sure to be the most glamorous in Charlotte’s recent history, that the purpose of Room to Bloom is to raise  funds for the Mint Museum. Along with the Art of Style Gala, the Mint will display a collection of Oscar’s gowns on loan from Charlotte’s “who’s who” in the museum’s contemporary arts gallery. The collection will be visible to the public on April 30th-May 1st. For more information, visit the Mint Museum Auxiliary website.
