Why Thanksgiving is my muse.
LISA BELIEVES GRATITUDE IS THE ESSENCE OF GOOD DESIGN AND A BEAUTIUFL LIFE. WELCOME TO THANKSGIVING LISA SHERRY STYLE ....
DONE RIGHT, THANKSGIVING IS MORE THAN A DAY
"Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's absolutely more about the sentiment than it is the feast. The truth is, living in a state of gratitude is the secret sauce to a beautiful life. For me, gratitude equals abundance; it's also the source of creativity. When I wake up grateful, whether the day is full of obstacles or flawless rolling lawns, I am open to the experience of the day without judgement. I'll add that I speak with experience. Like all of us, my world has occasionally turned upside down. Ultimately, gratitude is the ballast.
"So, thanks + giving. What could be better? Surrounding yourself with the people you love, of course. My family has evolved over the years. I've talked about the loss of my mother, Leta, very recently. Her absence is a tender spot. A life of nearly 95 years is also cause for celebration and thankfulness. She will be with me this Thanksgiving – after all, she taught me how to set a table and my mindset. On that note, our holiday table will be full, including my partner in life and adventure, Jonathan Cabral, my son Ned, his wife Liv and her mum Shaela, plus the live-large Cabral cabal, Jonathan's kiddos. Today's blog is about our Thanksgiving trip to bountiful – Palm Springs, to be exact – how it evolved and who's involved – and Lisa Sherry Interieurs studio news.
"I'm changing. Do you see it? I am beyond grateful to have found a career that feeds my soul and also my ambition, to be candid. Interior design is about bringing silent spaces to life. Ultimately, good design is about LIVING, which stretches beyond paint specs, furniture, floor plans and the like. This has been a year of personal growth for me – so far, so good. I am continually learning how to live. I feel more open, more inspired, more relaxed and more willing to be personally present – at work, at home and at play. For these things and more, I am grateful."

MY THANKSGIVING ADVENTURE STARTED WITH "BABE, PACK YOUR BAGS"
"Since I'm an interior designer, it may not surprise you to learn that I am a homebody. Especially now. My partner Jonathan and I recently purchased a new Charlotte townhome. It's our space – together – and while I can see him thoughtful deferring to me on most design decisions, it's a wonderful experience to design a space that's not him or me, but US. In short, I love being at home. Yet, when Jonathan suggested that we get our dose of holiday dopamine elsewhere and leave our new Charlotte nest for Thanksgiving, I was all in. There was just one hitch. Actually, eight ... read on."
PALM SPRINGS HERE WE COME
"It always feels good to be home for the holidays. Yet, I'm of the mind that home is both a physical and emotional space. Regardless of the pin drop, my true home will always be alongside the people I love. So, just like that, our entire blended family is taking up residence for six days in Palm Springs. We'll be a holiday party of ten.
"Palm Springs will be nearly new to me. I visited another lifetime (and career) ago, shooting a national magazine ad campaign. Frankly, I am always working. It's a good thing! Travel is amazing inspiration for interior design ideas, and Palm Springs is an absolute wellspring. It's a midcentury modern Mecca. You might find me striking a Slim Aarons poolside pose, touring iconic homes, shopping or striking off to Joshua Tree. I'll share my adventures in Instagram Stories so stay tuned."
OUR PARTY OF TEN
"Ned, Liv and Shaela. Ben, Nick, Logan, Chris and Alexandra. Just add Jonathan and me, and our Palm Springs takeover adds up to a perfect party of ten. We've got an amazing VRBO house (I'm sure I'll gently rearrange some furniture; I always do) and a loose plan. I call it spontaneity with guard rails!
"Now, just a few days out, the Thursday menu is TBD. The turkey may not get a pardon, but I'm sure we'll have loads of greens and grains for the growing plant-based and vegetarian faction of our group. Alas, there will be ten accomplished cooks in the kitchen. I love open floor plans. Everyone gets a knife, a spatula and an assignment.
"With an abundance of bedrooms and an open-floor plan, there's ample room for communal living, bonding and private time too."
MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE RANCH...
"If you're lucky, you have a work family as I do. When individual talent is powered by complete-each-other's-sentences teamwork, the results are exponential.Plus, the work place environment, the Lisa Sherry Interieurs Charlotte studio, is fun and electric. A very public thank you to my team – Katie, Maryn, Hope and Rod – for who you are and all you do.
"It's the power, strength and creativity of this team which allows me to scoot out of town a few days before the holiday. I know they have everything covered. Time off is important to us all. Lisa Sherry Interieurs is closed Thanksgiving day (of course!) and also on Friday, so everyone can share meaningful time with friends and family."
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT??
FRIDAY & SATURDAY, DEC. 1-2 | CHARLOTTE, NC
"The holiday gift-giving season has not snuck up on me. I have been dreaming, planning and buying gifts for months and months for my Holiday Pop-Up event. It's two days only next Friday and Saturday, and only in Charlotte.
"The Holiday Pop-Up includes lots of gifts for home – jams and jellies, incense and diffusers, hostessing accoutrements aplenty, plus vessels, throws, and statues. You'll even find a small curated selection of jewelry and clothing. The Holiday Pop-Up is a collection of all the things I love and have placed in client projects or in my own homes.I'm excited to share the wealth!"
